چکیده

From all bridge components, concrete bridge decks in most cases deteriorate the fastest. Theretransportation agency budgets for bridges. The current practice of bridge deck inspection typically provides information when the deterioration is already in its latest stage. Main reductions in the expenditures can be achieved through their monitoring and assessment using nondestructive evaluation (NDE) technologies, and timely maintenance and repair. Since the currently used NDE technologies enable detection and characterizanologies: electrical resistivity (ER), half-cell potential (HCP), impact echo (IE), ground penetrating radar (GPR), and ultrasonic surface waves (USW) method. The technologies are used to assess condition of concrete decks with respect to rebar corrosion, delamination and concrete degradation. The results presented include maps describing the corrosive environment and corrosion activity, deck delamination, and quantitative and qualitatechnologies to characterize deterioration clearly points to the need for their complementary use to address the complex nature of deterioration in concrete bridge decks.

Concrete Bridge Deck Condition Assessment Using Robotic System Rabit

Development and implementation of RABIT (Robotics Assisted Bridge Inspection Tool) in condition assessment concrete bridge decks is described. The system uses multiple nondestructive evaluation (NDE) technologies in characterization of three most common deterioration types: rebar corrosion, delamination, and concrete degradation. The system implements four NDE technologies: electrical resistivi...

Delamination and concrete quality assessment of concrete bridge decks using a fully autonomous RABIT platform

One of the main causes of a limited use of nondestructive evaluation (NDE) technologies in bridge deck assessment is the speed of data collection and analysis. The paper describes development and implementation of the RABIT (Robotics Assisted Bridge Inspection Tool) for data collection using multiple NDE technologies. The system is designed to characterize three most common deterioration types ...

Correlation-based Model for Evaluating Ground Penetrating Radar (gpr) Data of Concrete Bridge Decks

The Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) has been studied for a long time as a non-destructive evaluation (NDE) technology for inspection of concrete structures. Currently, the most widely used technique for interpreting GPR data of concrete bridge decks is the one that based on the amplitudes measured at various interfaces such as asphalt-concrete, top rebar, or slab bottom. The assumption behind th...

Data analysis and visualization for the bridge deck inspection and evaluation robotic system

Background: Bridge deck inspection is essential task to monitor the health of the bridges. Condition monitoring and timely implementation of maintenance and rehabilitation procedures are needed to reduce future costs associated with bridge management. A number of Nondestructive Evaluation (NDE) technologies are currently used in bridge deck inspection and evaluation, including impact-echo (IE),...

Attenuation-based Methodology for Condition Assessment of Concrete Bridge Decks using GPR

Reflection amplitude at top rebar layer has been used as a main criterion for evaluating attenuation of ground-penetrating radar (GPR) data from concrete bridge decks. However, a recent study has pointed out the limitation of this practice. Motivated by that same research, the current paper presents a robust method for performing GPR attenuation analysis. Also based on correlation between A-sca...
